FAQs

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a supportive, confidential space where you can talk openly with a qualified therapist it’s about being truly heard and understood. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or just unsure of how to cope, counselling offers a safe place to explore those feelings.

How long are the counselling sessions?

All counselling sessions are up to 50 minutes.

How many sessions do I need?

The number of sessions can differ depending on your individual needs. Some people benefit from short-term counselling to work through specific challenges, while others prefer longer-term therapy to explore deeper issues and support ongoing personal growth.

To help understand how many sessions may be right for you, we will begin by discussing your therapy goals in the first session. Then, every sixth session will be a review session. In these sessions, we’ll reflect on your progress, explore whether your goals are being met, and decide together if further work is needed. These reviews also give you the opportunity to consider how counselling is helping and whether continuing therapy feels beneficial for you.

How is the first session like?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin to build a trusting therapeutic relationship. We’ll talk about what brings you to counselling and what you’d like to get out of it. You don’t need to have all the answers or know exactly what your goals are—part of our work together can be figuring that out.

We’ll go over practical details too, such as confidentiality, how sessions work, and any questions you may have about the counselling process. Most importantly, it’s a space for you to talk openly and be heard, without pressure or judgment.

How much do Counselling sessions cost?

Each individual session cost £50. However, I aim to keep counselling fee for each session is affordable. I do offer reduced counselling. It’s £25 for each session and Wednesdays only.

What counselling approach do you provide?

I understand we’re all unique — your experiences, emotions, and challenges are unique to you, and I always keep that in mind as I support you.

I use Pluralistic Approach. It means I use different techniques and skills tailored according to my clients’ needs such as CBT, Psychodynamic approach and person-centred approach. Depending on what you’re going through, we work together and draw from a range of therapeutic techniques to help you explore your situation, understand yourself more deeply, and work towards lasting, positive change at your own pace.

Are you registered in a professional body as a counsellor?

Yes. I’m committed to working within the ethical standards of National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

Where do the Counselling sessions take place?

I provide online counselling via Google Meet or Zoom, depending on your preferences.

What do your clients need for online therapy?

Clients need a stable internet connection, a device that has microphone and camera that we can see and hear each other such as a smart phone, tablet or computer with a camera. It’s also important for clients to be alone in the room for their own confidentiality.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 24 hours-notice for cancellations or rescheduling appointments. If a session is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, the full session fee will still apply.

How do you create a safe and trusted environment during sessions?

Creating a safe, supportive space is incredibly important to me. I strive to approach each session with empathy, non-judgment, and respect for each person’s unique experiences. I honour client confidentiality and listen with genuine curiosity and compassion. My goal is for clients to feel comfortable expressing themselves openly, knowing that our space is one of acceptance, mutual respect, and genuine care.

What motivates you to be a therapist?

I believe that everyone has the potential for change and resilience, even in the face of life’s most difficult challenges. Being able to support others, offer a compassionate presence, and witness their courage and strength as they work through personal struggles is incredibly meaningful to me. I truly feel that therapy can make a difference in people’s lives, and helping others find their path is what makes this work so fulfilling.

Your Privacy and Confidentiality

Your privacy is really important to me, and I want you to know that anything you share during our sessions is treated with the utmost care and respect. The fact that you’re in counselling, as well as anything you choose to talk about, is kept completely confidential.

There are a few rare exceptions where I have a legal and ethical responsibility to break confidentiality — for example, if I believe you’re at serious risk of harming yourself, someone else is in danger, or if a child/ vulnerable person is at risk. In these situations, I may need to inform your GP or contact relevant professionals. Wherever possible, I’ll always try to speak with you about this first, and I would much rather have your permission — but I may still need to take action without it, if safety is a concern. This follows the ethical guidelines set by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). Any notes I keep are stored securely and handled in full compliance with GDPR.

Confidentiality for working online

If we’re working together online or talking on the phone for any reason, please be aware that I can’t guarantee privacy at your location. I ask that you find a quiet, private space where you feel safe and free to talk without being overheard. Using headphones with a microphone is also a good idea, both for comfort and for maintaining privacy.
